Pitter Patter Pet Care is a small team of professional animal lovers who specialise in catering to pets of all kinds. We offer a wide range of services, including dog walking, pet sitting, pet taxi, drop ins and guinea pig/rabbit nail cutting, at affordable prices. Our mission is to provide compassionate and reliable care to animals and their owners whenever they need it.

How to book

If you are a new customer, please get in touch via the form in the 'Contact Us' section below or via email or WhatsApp. I will send over our booking enquiry form for you to complete and go from there. A home visit/ meet and greet will be arranged before booking. Any questions or queries, don’t hesitate to drop us a message by text or email. If you call and there is no answer, please leave us a text or email instead. Please make sure you always read our T&Cs before booking, no liability falls on us if you fail to do so.

If you are an existing customer, just email, text or WhatsApp us regarding the dates and service you need.

If the sitter you have asked for is not available for the date you need, there is a chance a different sitter is available instead, who would be more than happy to help.

Harrison

I have a qualification in pet first aid, a level 3 diploma in animal management and I have worked with cats and dogs for the past 4 years. I currently own 2 dogs, 13 guinea pigs and a crested gecko. I have also previously owned cats, rats, stick insects, hamsters, gerbils, a snake, millipedes and fish.

I have a full driving license and my own car.

I have worked with dogs for the past 5 years and worked with cats for the past year. I currently own three dogs and 1 cat. I have also owned guinea pigs and rats.

Grace

I have a qualification in pet first aid, and have worked with dogs for the past 3 years and worked with with cats for the past year. I currently own 3 cats, 2 leopard geckos, 1 crested gecko, shrimp, 1 snake, 1 dog and 3 rats. I have also previously owned mice, tarantulas, a scorpion, snails, fish, frogs, hamsters, gerbils, millipedes, cockroaches and stick insects!

I have worked with cats and dogs for the last two years. I have previously owned dogs, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, mice, degus, budgies and gerbils.

We are looking to expand our human team and have a single opening for this rare position!

Pitter Patter Pet Care have an increasing client family and are seeking an additional dedicated and passionate Dog Walker / Pet Sitter from June 2025.

This is a self employed position and you will be in charge of your own taxes / insurance etc.

The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care while ensuring the safety and well-being of our furry clients.

This role involves walking dogs of various sizes and temperaments, providing companionship, exercise, and basic care during walks. It also involves different care services for a range of pets including cats, rodents, small animals etc.

The candidate will be flexible and adaptable to accept drop in / dog walk / overnight pet sitting requests across Stevenage and North Hertfordshire as required. Pay rates will depend on the booking types.

You must have a driving license and your own vehicle.

You must have a clean DBS check dated with the last 3 months (or be registered to the DBS Update service).

A current pet first aid certificate is essential.

Duties

• Walk dogs in various weather conditions, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation.

• Monitor the behaviour and health of each dog during walks, reporting any concerns to the owner.

• Provide basic care, including feeding and administering medication if required.

• Maintain a clean environment by picking up after dogs during walks.

• Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing updates on their pets’ behaviour and wellbeing.

• Ensure all dogs are securely leashed and safe at all times.

Experience

• Previous experience in animal care, dog walking, pet sitting is essential. (This should be work experience, not own pet care).

• Strong customer service skills to effectively engage with pet owners and address their needs.

• Ability to manage multiple dogs (from one household) at once while maintaining control and safety.

• A genuine love for animals, with an understanding of dog behaviour and training techniques being advantageous.
